ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR FOR EXTERNAL AFFAIRS & RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT

RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent is appointed as Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs & Resource Development for Intercollegiate Athletics (ICA), responsible for both the development of funding sources for the athletics program and oversight for the department's external relations activities. The incumbent will maintain responsibility and provide leadership and direction for the generation of revenue for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics of which a significant revenue stream will be from private philanthropy, corporate sponsors, and ticket sales. In coordination with the Director of Athletics, duties include planning, organizing, and maintaining a 26-sport effort to consistently increase the financial support of the ICA program. The incumbent directly supervises the Assistant Athletic Directors for Development, Media Relations, and Marketing and Promotions. In addition, the Director of Creative Communication, the Broadcast Staff, the coordinators of the UC Davis Spirit Squad and Licensed Products, and four head coaches.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will have five or more years of increasingly responsible experience in related administration and management duties; experience and demonstrated success in major gift development; experience in sports marketing and promotions, public affairs, and media relations; strong experience in fiscal management, human resource management, policy development, and strategic planning; and expert leadership abilities to establish goals and to motivate and influence others to achieve.

APPOINTMENT
A Management & Senior Professional (MSP).

ATHLETIC TRAINER (2 Positions)

These positions are located in: Intercollegiate Athletics and are not represented by a union. Working hours: M-F, 8-5.

This External position is for UCD/UCDHS employees and the general public. Applications from the general public and UCD/UCDHS employees will be considered simultaneously. The University of California, Davis sponsors 26 sports for men and women and is a member of NCAA Division I. A majority of intercollegiate sports compete in the Big West Conference.

Responsibilities
To work as a full time athletic trainer with a team of five certified athletic trainers in a NCAA athletic program that has 26 sports and 800 student athletes. Team assignments to be determined but responsibilities will include coverage for wrestling, basketball, baseball, softball, aquatics, and soccer. Game coverage is provided through a cooperative effort of the certified athletic training staff. Additionally, injury rehabilitation to student athletes and clinical supervision and education of the athletic training students will be emphasized.

Requirements
Ability to interact effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with persons from diverse backgrounds and at various organizational levels within and outside the university. Skills to perform first aid and emergency care. Skills to provide evaluation, rehabilitation and treatment for injured athletes. Knowledge to apply tape, padding, braces, stretching and wrapping for treatment and prevention of athletic injuries. Skills to operate, coordinate, and supervise use of therapeutic modalities. Skills to operate a desktop computer using the Macintosh operating system. Knowledge of medical record management. Ability to manage a busy, efficient, and highly professional athletic training room. Experience to supervise and manage student athletic trainers. Skills to teach clinical rehabilitative skills to student athletic trainers. Special Conditions of Employment: This position is a critical position and subject to a background check. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history and identity check. Non smoking work environment. Work hours outside standard 8AM-5PM schedule. National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification certified athletic trainer. CPR certification. A valid driver's license required to operate UC vehicle to transport athletes for intercollegiate activities. Physical Requirements: Position requires lifting up to 50 lbs. Position requires moving and lifting injured athletes; lift supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

ASSISTANT WOMEN'S ROWING COACH

Responsibilities
Assist the head women's rowing coach in all aspects of an NCAA Division I women's rowing program including student recruitment, scheduling, team travel, practice planning, and administration of the program in full compliance with NCAA, Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association, and university rules and regulations. The position includes teaching in the basic physical education activity program.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a Master's Degree or the equivalent, successful coaching and teaching experience (preferably at the collegiate level), and the ability to identify and attract outstanding students to the university. Candidates must have a clear understanding of the student first philosophy in place at UC Davis and the role of a teacher/coach.

Appointment
Full-time 12 month assistant coach position in the intercollegiate athletics program and lecturer in physical education. A Collective Bargaining Unit covers the lecturer portion of this appointment.

MEN'S/WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COACH AND ASSISTANT TRACK & FIELD COACH

Responsibilities
Coach the men's and women's cross country teams and assistant track coach for the middle and long distances. Recruiting for men's and women's cross country and track & field, home meet management, attendance at required staff meetings and other aspects associated with a Division I program in compliance with the NCAA, the Big West Conference and the University of California, Davis rules and regulations.

Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree, coaching experience at the collegiate level and the ability to identify and attract outstanding students to the university. Candidates must have a clear understanding of the student first philosophy in place at UC Davis. USATF Level I, II, or III a definite plus.

Appointment
Full-time 12 month coaching contract in intercollegiate athletics. Compensation: Salary is competitive within the Big West Conference and based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.

ASSISTANT WOMEN'S ROWING COACH/VARSITY ASSISTANT COACH

Responsibilities
The individual hired will be responsible for assisting the head coach in all phases of the NCAA Division I women's rowing program. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruitment of prospective student-athletes; assist in development and implementation of varsity training program; assistance in instruction of novice program; recruiting (on and off campus); fundraising; administrative duties; routine maintenance of rowing equipment; regatta/travel management; and the fostering of booster and alumni relationships. Individuals should be highly organized and possess effective written and oral communication skills; have ability to maintain positive professional relationships with student-athletes, staff and alumni; support ideals and philosophies of the University and rowing program in full compliance with NCAA, Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association, and university rules and regulations.

Qualifications
Position requires a Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of one year of collegiate coaching is preferred. Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations are required and candidates must pass NCAA certification exam. Candidates must have a clear understanding of the student first philosophy in place at UC Davis.
